Common electrical emergencies
If your neighbours have power and you don't, the fault is on your side: a tripped main switch, a failed connection, or a fault in the switchboard itself. We diagnose where the supply stops rather than guessing at parts — often starting on the phone before we've even left.
Call 0407 845 046A safety switch that trips repeatedly is doing its job — something is leaking current. Common causes are a failing appliance, moisture in a circuit, or damaged wiring. We isolate the affected circuit, find what's leaking, and fix the cause rather than just resetting the switch.
Call 0407 845 046That hot-plastic smell from a power point, switch or the switchboard is overheating insulation — one of the clearest early warnings of an electrical fire. Switch the circuit off and don't use it again until it's been inspected. This is one we treat as a genuine emergency.
Call 0407 845 046A small blue flash when unplugging under load can be normal; repeated sparking, scorch marks, or sparking with nothing being plugged in is not. Behind that face plate is usually a loose or burnt connection. Stop using the outlet and have it made safe.
Call 0407 845 046When some circuits work and others don't, the cause is usually a tripped breaker, a failed neutral, or the loss of one supply phase. A failing neutral in particular can put unusual voltages on what still works — if lights are glowing oddly bright or dim, call promptly.

A nearby strike can also do damage of its own — surging through the wiring and taking out appliances, power points or switchboard components outright, even where nothing looks wet. We check what the storm actually reached, dry out or isolate what's affected, and make the installation safe.
Call 0407 845 046Switchboards should be silent and cool. Buzzing, crackling or warmth from the panel points to a loose connection or an overloaded circuit arcing behind the scenes — the kind of fault that escalates. It's a call-now item, not a book-next-week item.

Intermittent faults are exactly what diagnostic-first electrical work is for; we trace them rather than waiting for them to become permanent.
